Jean-Éric Vergne, P7:
“I’m very happy for how the race went today, we had no issues and the race went smooth. It’s good to have secured third in the championship even though I narrowly missed on second with one point. I would like to congratulate Antonio for his championship win and thank everyone in my team. Pascal, Thibault, Bertrand, Alex, Francesca, Anthony, Mike, other Alex, our Team Manager Nigel, everyone back at the factory. They work so incredible hard and together we can move mountains. As for the season, it will be good to have a break now, it’s been a bad one for me and I need to time to reflect and learn from where I’ve gone wrong so that I can come back stronger next season. See you in Chile!”
Antonio Felix Da Costa, P9:
“Wow, today is the day. We have received the championship trophies and the season is over. I will never take this for granted and I am so eager for the next season to start because I want to feel like this again. It’s going to be a very tough fight in the season to come but we’ll give it a crack and if it doesn’t work out, we’ll have a go at it again. I want to say a huge thanks to the team, to Mark and Keith who have always believed in me, to David, Gigi, Clement, Lucas, my incredible mechanics Xavier, Seb, Ben, Javier, Martin our Chief Mechanic Pete and to the marketing team who have handled the media storm after the win and all other activations that we do for the fans and the partners. We have a dream team and I’m so happy to have won this championship with you all.”
Mark Preston, DS TECHEETAH Team Principal:
“I have said it many times over the last two weeks, but it can’t be said enough. We have the best team on the grid, across the board. It takes a lot more to run a successful racing team that what can be seen. It’s a whole operation that requires each and every person to excel in their jobs, and that goes from accounting, marketing, and legal to the technical team of mechanics and engineers. We have a unique group of people in this team who will stop at nothing to ensure our success and that is why we are here today. So thanks to all of you, and a special thanks to our Racing Director Leo Thomas for running a tight ship and to DS Automobiles for providing us with such a strong powertrain.”
Xavier Mestelan Pinon, DS Performance Director:
“After the titles won last year, we had a clear objective to do it again and we knew that we had the means to do it. However, the challenge was also immense and meant a lot of pressure. So, at the evening of the season, with the beautiful third place of Jean-Éric in the Drivers’ classification, we are incredibly proud of the team. These titles have been obtained with panache that is the most beautiful reward. They also demonstrated the undeniable know-how of the DS motor. What could be more demonstrative than beating eight of the largest manufacturers, our technology is efficient and winning! For a young brand like ours, Formula E is a wonderful R&D accelerator. When the E-TENSE technology is winning on the circuits, it is also on the road, and that is why we are committed to Formula E.”
